IVCC-LPO Alumni Hall of Fame established

            An IVCC-LPO Alumni Hall of Fame will be established this fall at Illinois Valley Community College, President Larry Huffman announced Thursday.

            Up to 25 members of the “Hall” will be selected the first year and three-to-five members will be inducted each succeeding year, Huffman said.

            Huffman made the announcement at the first IVCC-LPO Alumni Association reception at Deer Park Country Club.

            The Hall will honor IVCC and LPO’s most distinguished former students and staff. Nomination forms are available in the IVCC Foundation Office, C202, or on the Web at alumni.ivcc.edu or www.ivcc.edu/foundation.

            The nomination deadline is Sept. 17; the first Hall inductees will be announced in November and an induction ceremony will be held in early 2008. For information contact Fran Brolley at (815) 224-0524.

            About 45 alumni attended the gathering ranging in age from Julia Fitzgerald of Waltham Township, Class of 1947, to Jennifer Nagle, WLPO/WAJK News Director, Class of 2001. Other guests included John and Doris (Thran) Smith, who met at LPO in 1952 and who now live in Tennessee, Michael (Lassen) Parkins, 1966-68, Kathy Parker of Peru, 1975, and Kathy Spitzmiller-Casstevens, Director of Marketing for Starved Rock Lodge, 1980.

            The alumni steering committee includes, Joe Bernardoni of Utica, 1977, Joe Kolodziej of Dimmick, 1977, Jane Sack of rural Peru, 1975, Susan Monroe of the IVCC Development Office, Foundation President O.J. Stoutner, Huffman and Brolley (1980).     

            Alumni are encouraged to register at alumni.ivcc.edu for alumni, foundation and college events, news and email access to former classmates who have registered.
