IVCC Foundation launches first giving society
Sunday, November 26, 2006
IVCC alumni are cordially invited to become charter members of the Illinois Valley Community College Foundation’s first giving club: The 21st Century Scholars Society.
The Society’s mission is to reward high academic achievement among currently enrolled IVCC students by providing one full-tuition scholarship each year.
Membership is $500 per couple or per individual annually; the Society currently has eight members.
“Society members invest in IVCC’s most promising students,” said IVCC President Larry Huffman.
Every spring, IVCC’s five academic divisions will each nominate a first-time, full-time freshman for the award based on outstanding academic performance and demonstrated financial need.
A selection committee will choose one 21st Century Scholar from among the nominees and the winner will be honored along with all Society members at a dinner in mid-May. The Scholar will receive a full-tuition scholarship for their sophomore year.
As a consolation, nominees not chosen for the award will receive a $350 scholarship for their sophomore year and each will be recognized at the dinner.
For information on the Society, please call Fran Brolley, IVCC director of development, at (815) 224-0524.
