Former IVCC baseball standout Ryan Czyz of Ottawa was named the offensive player of the year for the St. Louis Metro Collegiate Baseball League this summer while playing for the Alton Indians.

 

Czyz, now a standout for Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, hit .390 including five doubles, three home runs and three triples to go along with 21 RBIs and 22 steals. The center fielder led Alton to the regular season championship and a runner-up finish in the league tournament.
