Illinois Valley Community College has been awarded The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government entity and its management. IVCC has received the award every year since 1994.
An Award of Financial Reporting has been awarded to IVCC Vice President for Business Services and Finance, Cheryl Roelfsema.
"IVCC has a long history of qualifying for the prestigious comprehensive annual financial reporting award,” said Roelfsema. "This is accomplished only through the integrity and hard work of all our staff, faculty and administration.”
The first award in 1994 was received by Dr. Frank Zeller, a current director on the Foundation Board. Following awards were received by Frank Papke and Dr. Jerry Corcoran, current president of IVCC.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Ill. and Washington, D.C.
